Personal challenge: a simple sketch each day

Goal: forcing me to keep things simple - inking, shading, just a few sashes of colour

Improvement pursued: to get the movement, the emotion, finding how to add depth, learning how to leave things barely finished

Max time allowed: 2 hours instead of 8-20 on my previous projects - more like 2h30 here, as usual when I decide to draw wings in this challenge

Today's theme chosen by me:

You previously met my Magpie !Crowley, please now allow me to present you my dear Turtledove!Aziraphale (human form). I am so in love with his wings, inspired by the European Turtledove wings. These wings are quite different from the ones I drew before in my other Good Omens fanarts, but that's because my previous wings were here to express an emotion, a movement, an intention (just like in this WIP here). For this one here, because I really wanted it to be realistic, I had to use some references and flying turtledoves pictures. But I was glad to finally draw something realistic but still inspiring motion AND emotion.

Maybe I’ll use this new knowledge later for ulterior bigger projects.

For your information, Aziraphale’s coat is quite the same as Magpie!Crowley’s. The coats continue in their back then switch to become some long and beautiful bird-tail feathers. I hope someday I’ll be able to draw their backside, so you can see what I imagine for them.

If anyone at all is wondering how the character hyper fixation is going, I’m currently crocheting a snake with the full intent of calling it Gabriel.

"I do actually have a couple of little critters around here! During my work day, they stay in their enclosures, but since I'm home, Papaya and Guacamole are flying around the house— Oh there they are!"

Crowley hobbles over to the pair of lovebird parrots and offers his hand for uppies. The two of them sidle over onto his hand and nibble his metal fingers, "The rosy-faced one is the lovely Papaya and the black cheeked fella is Guac. Got them kind of on impulse after I'd started to get bummed out by coming home to an empty house during the week. Not anyone's fault! Work just keeps us separate..."

After putting the pair back onto one of their MANY home perches, he grips the POV camera and drags everyone reading to a bigger, sandy enclosure, "And inside here is Dolly! You can see her in the back there a little bit. She's a Red-Knee Tarantula. I'd grab her out, but she just molted and I don't want to accidentally hurt her. I caught her back in the kingdom I lived in as a kid a year or two ago. Just snatched her up and brought her back with me! She's been chill about it though."

"Anyhoozles! That's all my pets! Mack has a shit ton of animals though, so maybe stop over there and say hi or something. Toodles!"

It was Riot's turn to pick where he and Crowley stopped for a warm drink and a bite to eat during their patrol. It was a cozy little hole-in-the-wall bakery that had some spiced elderberry turnovers that he was dying to dig into. As they were walking up the sidewalk to the establishment though, he saw some folks up ahead looking their way and hanging around an archway set up on the sidewalk. His keen eye spotted a patch of green dangling from a red bow tied to the decoration--mistletoe. Studying their body language again, Riot could guess that these people were trying to look like they were having a chat, while keeping an eye on how close the two were getting to the archway.

Now, Riot was feeling awfully mischievous today, as it would turn out. And this was just a couple days after he and Crowley had joked about how it would be funny to pretend they were a couple--while also pretending not to know what people were talking about after they'd been called out on it--to confuse the public on their relationship statuses. It was more of a "what if" scenario at the time, but seeing the civilians purposefully slow their steps and purposefully time it so they'd end up under the arch """accidentally""", it rubbed Riot the wrong way. It felt almost, predatory; which was more than enough reason for him to be a menace in turn.

So just as they were about to reach the archway, Riot pretended to trip and stumble forward, grabbing Crowley's bicep and practically dragging him under the archway with him. They bumped into a couple of the folks waiting for them, but Riot quickly straightened up and looked at them apologetically.

"Oh no, are you all alright? Oh dear, I am terribly sorry--!" He apologized, with his other hand over his chest and a sincere look to his eyes to really try and sell the act.

"How embarrassin' fer me to trip over my own feet like that! I hope none of ye got seriously hurt by my carelessness! Now, wot were ye all lookin' at before I-- Oh? Wot's that?" He looked up, and pointed at the mistletoe hanging above the two heroes.

"Ohh, would ye lookat that! I didn't even see that, walkin' up this way! An' now i've got an' gotten us both underneath it with my clumsiness. Welp," He shrugged. "Might as well--"

And right in front of the gaggle of civilians he had just pushed through to spare the both of them from a potential publicity nightmare, Riot grabbed Crowley's face with both hands and pulled him in for a very aggressive, drawn out kiss. He topped it off with a loud 'MWAH!' sound as he pulled away.

"There we go! First time we've done that in public, innit? Anyways, we'd better get goin' if we wanna grab a snack before our break is up! You folks have a lovely day--Happy Holidays, an' stay safe!"

And with an arm around Crowley's shoulder (that lingered just long enough to stir up some questions), Riot led him out from under the archway so they could continue on their way to the bakery. He'd explain himself once they got there.

You see, I want that not to bother me as much and I want to know if duct tape is a good enough replacement for gauze in an emergency situation. This is a time sensitive question. Thank you~!"

... While this wasn't the strangest request he'd ever received, it was certainly one of the strangest ways he'd been asked.

Dr. Black Jack wasn't entirely sure what to make of the small disc he'd found on his doorstep. He was even less sure of how to react when it turned on and projected a 3d recording of what looked to be a man who fought with a paper shredder and lost.

He assumed it was a recording, at least. Whatever technology this was seemed advanced enough to do at least that.

Though... why someone would go through all this effort to ask a time sensitive question about duct tape was beyond him.

"It most certainly would not." he states, though it was more to himself than to the flickering hologram. "Unless there's no other options, you'd have better luck using a torn up shirt as a replacement."
